The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation


The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation has started to take necessary steps to build an international airport at Nijgadh of Bara district.
It is reported that the ministry would soon reach an agreement with Landmark Worldwide, a Korean company, in this connection.“We are in process to finalize the necessary documents that will facilitate the ministry and the company to conduct preliminary infrastructure study of the proposed site of the international airport,” a key official at the ministry was quoted as saying by Nayapatrika Daily.

After the finalization of the related documents, the government will invite the Korean team in Nepal to carry out a detail survey study vis-à-vis the construction of the proposed international airport.The Korean team is also expected to draw the estimated cost to build the airport in its survey report.The government will also issue an international tender notice for the construction of airport in accordance with the technical and financial details of the survey, the report said.It is estimated that the construction process will demand approximately US $ 2 billion.

The budget presented in the last fiscal year had announced to initiate measures to construct an international airport in Bara. The meeting of cabinet held a month back had also decided to start process to build the airport in this district.
